Drift Wood Jewelry Rack

When we lived at the South Beach house and I visited the ocean every day I was able to gather beautiful pieces of drift wood.

For this project I used large smooth pieces at least three feet in length. Then I took those little hooks and screwed them in. I eyeballed all the measurements. At the top I screwed in closed eyelets and threaded thick twine through.

All that was left was to hang them up. This was an extremely easy, visually stunning craft project. It took me a total of maybe a half an hour and that's because I took my time dusting them all off. The studs in the wall took a while to find, too. 

The result is a beautiful jewelry rack that reflects the time I spent enjoying the beach. This is by far my favorite craft project to date. 

Glass Float

Justin bought this gorgeous purple glass float for me from a second hand store for $15.  I tied knots around and around, dream catcher style. I think the end result is pretty fabulous. 

365 Selfie Challenge

Welcome back to my creepy, dirty, kinky, naughty, out there blog!  I've missed these blog therapy sessions and guess what? I found the app for that. Haha!

My sister Samantha and I are doing the 365 Selfie Challenge. The rules are pretty simple. Take a selfie every day for a year and post it. The why of it is our juicy story.  Sammy and I are stay-at-home mommies. There have been many more days than we would like to claim where we stayed in our pjs and looked like crap. It doesn't make a woman feel very sexy about herself. This is where the challenge comes in. It's a way for us to hold ourselves accountable. Every day we will get all dolled up and snap a pic. Even if we don't leave the house, the world will see us. 

Although we both actually started a few days ago, this will be our first official day.

Yo Ho Ho!

If you ask Jasper how old he is going to be he holds up his thumb, pointer and middle fingers and says, "fwee!".  He'll be two on Tuesday.  It's pretty close.  In honor of his birthday I drew the Jake and The Neverland Pirates characters on our window.  I think they turned out pretty well and Jasper loves them.  He keeps asking Jake for kisses and hugs.  Aww.

 

Ideas and Projects

There are so many craft ideas whizzing around in my head that it's getting difficult to remember all of them. So even though I haven't completed them yet, I'm going to blog about them. We'll call them...ideas and projects. That should work well. Ideas will be anything I'd like to do. Projects will be once I've started them. This can be anything from crafts, art, gardening, house projects, sewing, internet stuff, or anything in between and outside. I found many of them on Completely Coastal. Others I found reading House Beautiful. I love that magazine. And still others from browsing the web. Aren't you excited? I am!!

Mr. Lint Cow

After every dryer load of clothes you have to clean the lint trap. Now it can be fun! Introducing Mr. Lint Cow!!Mr. Lint Cow sits on top of the dryer just waiting for lint.Along comes some tasty lint after a load of fresh laundry. "Nom nom!" says Mr. Lint Cow, "I love lint!!""All gone!" He says, "That was tasty!"He sits and waits for more lint.
After Mr. Lint Cow gets full his head pops off and you can empty him in the garbage. OR you can set all the lint outside and give the birdies some nesting material.

Cute Girly Shoes

I found this project at Homemade by Jill and knew I had to try it out. They are kimono baby shoes and she actually got the pattern from HomeSpun Threads. Lots of links, I know, but these ladies and their blogs both rock so check them out!

This is my first attempt at these cuties and I didn't want to use my "good" fabrics for it in case the project turned out like poo. Well, the shoes turned out really awesome (to my surprise!) but now I can't use them for Jasper because I used pink. Ahhhh what can you do? So they'll go in my closet boxed up with other things I'm saving for when we have a little girl.

Like I said, I'm really impressed with how these turned out. Who knew I could do it? Not me that's for sure! :) My next attempt will be with Spongebob fabric on the outside and lined with a soft fuzzy yellow on the inside.

My First Onesie

I was bitten by the sewing bug! I've never used a sewing machine before this project. EVER! For some reason I was feeling very crafty and decided that I wanted to take up sewing. It would be a great way for me to get crafty and the final products would actually be useful. Always a plus! My first attempt into the world of sewing was a onesie for Jasper. I probably could have picked an easier first project but this was so much fun and knowing that I was making something useful for Jasper was kind of exciting in an extremely cheesy way.

I didn't have a pattern so I took one of the shorts onesies we purchased and winged it. The "shorts onesie" is just a regular onesie but with a tank top upper half and shorts for the bottom.

I am so proud of how this turned out! In the beginning I was wondering if I was going to ever actually put this on Jasper. Now I can say I can't wait until he's here so I can try it on him!

I'm going to add a little pocket to the right butt cheek, maybe the left too. On the front I'm going to go on an applique hunt for something really cute and boyish. So this onesie still has some finishing touches I'd like to add to really make it pop and be cute. I can't wait until I can actually put it on Jasper to see how it fits!
